Random Source’s Eurorack adaptation of the famed Serge Wave Multipliers module provides a user with three classic and distinct circuits for adding harmonic content to audio. The top Wave Multiplier provides a subtle overdrive-like effect in the “Hi” position and acts as a linear VCA when switched to “Lo.” The middle Wave Multiplier provides voltage-controllable emphasis of the odd harmonics of each of its two audio inputs, useful for generating woodwind-like sounds, among other applications. The third section mainly emphasizes the even harmonics of its inputs but also provides extra harmonic content and coloration across a wide frequency range; indeed, the travel of the “Fold” knob is one big sweet spot! This section also has a “squared” out for even more sonic variety, making it ideal for use with sub-octave modules such as the NCOM. Used in conjunction, the Serge Wave Multipliers provide a whole new range of timbres to explore!
