Bit crushing is created by rounding the signal to several comparators, where sample rate reduction is performed through a high quality sample and hold with audio rate clock - replace the clock with a square wave oscillator and sequence your aliasing tones! (for instance, run an oscillator through the sample rate reduction and clock the sample rate with a square wave oscillator an octave and a fifth above to create aliasing crush tones a fifth above the osc!)
