Random Sampling

Based on the legendary 266 Source of Uncertainty, Verbos have added some new twists to the classic west coast random module!

Just like the 266, Verbos random sampling includes two voltage controlled fluctuating random sources, and two quantized random outputs.  The quantized random outs are stepped random, one in 1v intervals for random octaves and other effects and the other in 12th of a volt intervals for random semi tones.  A knob controls the amount of quantized steps - think of them as dice but with a knob that controls the amount of sides to that dice.

Also includes an analog white and pink noise output, as well as a 808 cymbal spread output, which are great for percussion sounds but can also be patched to the sample and hold/shift register to create random values of different distributions.

The bottom section is that shift register - the shift register is 4 sample and hold circuits that are jack-normaled to be fed the previous sample and hold's output.  Think of this as a sample and hold that moves down the outputs like a canon.  Each sample and hold can also be used separately as a regular sample and hold.  Feed noise to the first sample and hold for canon-ized random outputs!

Per Verbos:

"Rooted in the California modular tradition, the Random Sampling is a selection of random voltage sources to add an element of uncertainty to both audio and control paths. Some of them classics and some new twists. Included are 2 fluctuating randoms capable of slowly varying voltage or sweepable audio noise, each with an uncorrelated random gate output. A two output, up to 6 bit digital stored random voltage source. White, pink and metallic (TR- 808 cymbal type) audio noise. A 4 stage analog shift register where each sample & hold can be broken out of the chain to be used separately."
